p e r s o n a l i n f o
hi !! i'm em, i'm 18, almost 19, and i use she/they pronouns. writing's always been part of my life, i've just never actually believed i could do it. so, here i am, yada yada yada more cheesy shit. anyways, i'm in college so my activity levels are all over the place, i'm hoping having a blog to even myself out and make myself stay consistent will actually work. i love all things dark, gloomy, scary, and puzzle-ey, which goes without saying that my hobbies follow the same tragectory. i've been playing piano since i was four years old and i love writing music, solving puzzles, writing and reading (goes without saying frankly).
a b o u t m y w r i t i n g
let’s get into it, shall we? i really like a blether, and by that i mean i’m indecisive beyond words. my most common genres in the overarching sense is urban fantasy combined with cosmic horror, and high fantasy. i love worldbuilding don’t come for me i’m sensitive.
but in terms of smaller little motifs and themes, i love delving into folklore (slavic and north african, gotta stick to my roots), low fantasy and surrealism, political intrigue, dark romanticism, gothic horror, monster girls, lesbians, a good ole butch/femme dynamic, dead people, ghosts, generational stories, and of course, anything you could listen to depeche mode while reading.
w i p i n f o
jesus it’s uh, um, it’s a mess in here, please ignore the state of my mind rn, all titles are subject to change, for now i'll be titling them by vibe and vibe alone, these will probably be their tags for the forseeable future, also they're all gay
no guts, all gory
a story of suspicious internships, monsterous girls, the desire for knowledge, dead people, things man was not mean to see, and lunch dates with your coworkers. [ low fantasy / surrealism / cosmic horror ]
baba yaga's moving castle
a story of matriarchies, political intrigue, slavic folklore. [ high fantasy / multiple povs ]
gas station prophecies
a story of gas station prophets, things in the fog, shadows in the woods, spooky towns and liminal spaces, odd summer vacations, and some very important realizations. [ low fantasy / surrealism / gothic horror / coming of age ]
saints of nothing at all
a story of secret societies that are worse than they seem, culty schools, ✨cunty✨outfits, mean girls, meaner lesbians, himbos, ballroom dancing, and just a little bit of a roll in the uncanny valley. [ surrealism / hauntings / gothic horror / academia ]

Writeblr Introduction
Tumblr media
Hello everyone! This is a bit of a different Writerblr introduction. I wanted to join this wonderful community and chronicle some of my writing projects that I plan to one day turn into an audio roleplay series, maybe even a book, who knows. I'm a Voice Actor and you can call me Fiend. I very much enjoy creating supernatural worlds and am inspired by podcasts like Welcome To Nightvale and The Magnus Archives.
About The Writer
Bisexual with nonbinary tendencies
He/They Pronouns
Three and a half cats in a trenchcoat, actually
I enjoy puzzles and tactical games
I'm Autistic (creating magic systems is one of my special interests, actually)
A world history and mythology nerd
Lover of videogames (RPGs, horror, souls-like)
I could talk for hours about Dark Souls. Days and months even, if you ask me about Bloodborne. Tread carefully.
I enjoy writing about supernatural mysteries, mythology, gay monsters, GNC characters, philosophy, unique magic systems, character-driven narratives and also building complex worlds.
About The Projects
I have created a multilayered Universe for my projects, in which I write different character-driven narratives that affect a world consumed by mystery and the supernatural. These are meant to be interactive stories, so each character interacts with the listener and will be voiced by me in my upcoming audio series!
Beast Beneath The Moonlight: A story about Gabriel, an idealistic intern at a hospital whose life goal is to save as many people as he can. He is turned into a werewolf and is then forced to confront his inner beast, contemplate mortality and understand the true meaning of strength.
Written in Blood: Killian, a very old vampire from a bygone era, struggling to cope with the death of his lover centuries before, trying his best to live his remaining days in peace until his very bloody past starts to catch up to him.
Fiends With Benefits: Levi, a half-demon caught between the Mortal and Supernatural world, expected to be the best by both worlds while not being accepted by either. He lives under his predecessor's shadow until a plot that could unravel Fiend Society is brought to light.
There will be more stories within this world, so stay tuned.
General Aesthetics and Tropes
Urban Fantasy, Hidden World, Supernatural Creatures Are Among Us & They Are Incredibly Hot, Magic is Real, Angst, LGBT+ themes, Bi Vampires, Dark Romance, Sexual Themes, Monsterfucking, Understanding the Nature of Humanity despite not being Human, The Struggle between Logic and Emotion, Found Family, Actually Horrifying Vampires as Well as Stupidly Sexy Vampires, Lesbian Victorian Ghosts, Werewolves but Not Always Wolves. "Hate is loud, but I think you'll learn it's because it's only a few people shouting, desperate to be heard. You might not ever be able to change their minds, but so long as you remember you're not alone, you will overcome."

Trick or treat! 👻🍂🍭💀
--@oh-no-another-idea
Heyo! The cat dice have decided treat for this one, so a couple of fun facts and a picrew for a characters from a no-name-barely-more-than-vibes new WIP I've been thinking about
Tumblr media
This is Bee! That is not her real name but she refuses to tell me what it actually is lol
Some other fun facts:
Second main character of the story
(but is more fleshed out than the 1st MC (Zack) lol)
Very bright and outgoing
Loves to skateboard
Through plot adventures she gains the power to manipulate glass
also a dragon buddy
(and a human buddy (Zack))
(and the crushing weight of stopping the apocalypse his brother started)
She doesn't know how to swim, and has managed to avoid any scenario outing this knowledge for most of her life
(as soon as they deal with *gestures* everything, Zack teaches her because he doesn't want her to nearly drown again)
Thanks for stopping by!

Chapter to Poem
Rules: Turn a piece of your writing/chapter into poem form it can be as long as you want it to be.
Thank you @the-stray-storyteller for this lovely idea! I chose my fav chapter from an unpublished FF I've been working on for a while, and tried to capture the mood and feelings in a short poem. It was a lot of fun! If any of my writer mutuals is interested in joining in, you are now tagged and I'd love to read your poetry!
-------------------------------------------- (WIP "Who Went Hungry for Too Long")
How the War Was Lost
This is war: I thread the skies above the summer garden With sparkling satellites and irascible starfleets I always keep some honey flowers hidden in my sleeve
I will not be replaced, I replaced everything else Refilled your glass three times and still you drink, you talk About memories, full and rotten like the funeral moon
Are you afraid? I shattered this stage by the first act When I saw us embracing in your jellyfish mind You are bested, your armored arms cold on my back
You play, you pull the loose thread on my neck And I displace myself in graves and green fields I cannot find my body; I won, I think, I won, I won

This is one of several reasons I'm no longer doing / supporting NaNoWriMo. I may still use the concept when I'm able (while not in the midst of a semester, that is), but, for the time being, I am entirely unwilling to support them.
Tumblr media
We know many of you have seen NaNoWriMo's recent statements on generative AI...
Well, we have too—and that's why we've made the decision to retract our sponsorship of NaNo.
Your support and belief in human creativity, transparency and collaboration mean everything to us, and we're committed to staying true to that. Thank you all! 💙
You can read our full statement here.

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

- wip introduction + no guts all gory -
Tumblr media
- no guts all gory -
[ low fantasy / surrealism / murder mystery / slight romance ]
- aesthetics / tropes -
living cities, endless libraries, life and death in judaism, treating a limited edition metro card like your baby, golems, office drama, monster girls, law and order jokes, depeche mode and noise cancelling headphones, talking to god (delusion), talking to god (real), knights in shining polyester, damsels in no small amount of distress but they're handling it just fine thank you, bones, boning jk jk, m.c. escher architecture, and gay panic. [ pinterest link ]
- synopsis -
when hadassah's summer job at the new york public library pulls through for her during finals week, she's excited about the prospect of working with some old friends and mentors of hers. but the library's changed a great deal since she was there. for instance, she's placed in a new department with only one person she knows, dani, her friend from college. quickly, they both discover that this department is not what it claims to be, and as they watch the city move of its own accord around and for them, they realize that there are quite a few more dead bodies under the city than they thought.

"If there is pain, nurse it, and if there is a flame, don't snuff it out, don't be brutal with it. Withdrawal can be a terrible thing when it keeps us awake at night, and watching others forget us sooner than we'd want to be forgotten is no better. We rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster than we should that we go bankrupt by the age of thirty and have less to offer each time we start with someone new. But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything - what a waste! (p. 225)" ― André Aciman

Trick or Treat? 🦇
The kitty dice have chosen... treat! And in the spirit of the holiday, I'm gonna talk a bit about my spider girl Thea :D
Now, when I say spider girl, I don't mean Spider-Man shenanigans. I mean a la driders in DnD, or for the unknowing/uninformed/those who didn't see a bunch of screenshots and gifs when BG3 came out (really the only reason why I know what they are lol), think centaur, but instead of a horse body, it's a spider.
And that's Thea! :D
Now it's bullet point time XD
Absolute sweetest sweetheart to ever sweet
She's a Weaver (name to be changed), which is somebody who can see and manipulate the threads of time
One of her parents is the goddess of the Weave (name also to be changed, basically the "tapestry" of time)
Absolutely smitten with Mari basically the moment she sees her
Hates feeling helpless
Absolute gentlest soul who doesn't want to hurt anybody
(Too bad the plot is gonna kick her well past her comfort zone re: those last two points!)
Thanks for stopping by!

When a Character Is Grieving Someone They Never Got to Say Goodbye To
✧ They talk about the person in past tense… then correct themselves. Then stop talking entirely.
✧ They touch things that belonged to the person like they’re fragile, sacred, about to disappear.
✧ They hoard the last voicemail, last message, last anything. Play it. Don’t play it. Just knowing it exists hurts enough.
✧ They leave something untouched, an empty seat, a half-packed bag, a coffee order that isn’t theirs.
✧ They get irrationally angry when someone else seems to be “moving on.” As if forgetting is betrayal.
✧ They don’t let themselves cry all at once. It comes in pieces. Like they’re afraid too much grief will drown them.
✧ They over-apologize. For being quiet. For being distant. For not being okay.
✧ They become hyper-aware of time, dates, anniversaries, time zones, the exact moment everything ended.
✧ They get superstitious. Ritualistic. As if doing things "right" might reverse something.
✧ They smile when they talk about the person. But it’s brittle. And it never quite touches their eyes.

Imagine you're opening AO3 and search for a fic. Imagine you're finding one that fits all your criterias. Imagine it has the perfect length. Imagine getting lost in the story and feeling almost high when it's over. Imagine looking up the author and they have written. so. many. more. fics. exactly. like. that. Imagine.
